SECRETS
by Kristina, age 14
"Shush." Secrets are something you should never tell;
No matter how hard you cry, no matter how hard you fell.
I learned my own lesson with at terrible price,
That deals with a "friend" as cold as ice.As I gave you my life, my heart, my dream,
I had trust you were willing to keep it, but later it seems.
Why did you do it? Why did you share?
For you forced me into that unwanted glare.
I won't throw a fit, but see my tear,
Since you found that hidden key, unlocking the door to my worst fear.
Stories, Gossip, Rumors - say it isn't so.
I'll never forgive you for sinking so low.
My pride I once had drowns in your wave,
While my confidence is lost in your black, frightening cave.
Soon I won't worry; I'll climb back to the top.
Sweeping all of your lies with this raggedy old mop.
My pride will float, my confidence be found,
As I brace my step foreword, onward bound.
You brought me down, working that dread,
Then I raised my head high, shrinking you instead.
Except I wont hurt you, but give you a peek,
At a lesson to learn, a moral to seek:
They're to be kept, should never be told
Because a Secret won't be a secret once it forever unfolds. |
