PARTICIPATION:
How do I participate?
The program runs from Tuesday, May 26 to Sunday, July 26.
Participation is free, and everyone can participate and earn prizes one time.
- To register go to www.mcldaz.org
- Click Summer Reading
- Choose the program you want by age
- Click on Sign Me Up (top right corner)
- Fill out the registration information and click Save.
- Explore your reading log (Add/View Log) and other features!
Stop by the Library to pick up your prizes, check out books, attend programs, and more!
PARTICIPATING ONLINE:
How do I keep track of what I read?
Babies:- To access your reading log, use the Add/View Log button.
- Enter your spaces in any increment of books you choose (1 space = 1 book).
- There are 4 prize levels, 1 for every 6 books you read (24 total spaces/books).
- You can also follow along with a game board from the Library, since each space on the game board represents 1 quantity/space in the online reading log.
- Book reviews are an optional feature that allows you to review books for personal reference or to share with others.
Kids:
- Register by clicking Sign Me Up, or if you’ve already registered click Login.
- To access your reading log, use the Add/View Log button.
- “Add” your spaces in any increment you choose (1 space = 20 minutes, 50 pages, or 1 book read).
- There are 4 prize levels, 1 for every 2 hours, 300 pages, or 6 books you read (24 total spaces).
- You can also follow along with a game board from the Library, since each space on the game board represents 1 quantity/space in the online reading log.
- Book reviews are an optional feature that allows you to review books for personal reference or to share with others.
Teens:
- Teens participate entirely online this summer!
- Register by clicking Sign Me Up, or if you’ve already registered click Login.
- To access your reading log, use the Add/View Log button.
- Enter your quantity levels in any increment choose (1 level = 1 book or 300 pages).
- There are 4 prize levels, 1 for every 1 book or 300 pages you read (4 total levels).
- Book reviews are an optional feature that allows you to review books for personal reference or to share with others.
PRIZES:
How do I earn prizes?
Register online & track your reading online with the Add/View Log button and/or on your game board (for babies and kids).
Babies = There are 4 prize levels. Each space in the reading log equals 1 book read to baby (24 total spaces). Earn a prize for every 6 books read to baby.
When you’ve read enough to make it to a prize level, you will see a scrolling message near the top of your summer reading homepage. Stop by the Library to pick up your prize!
Kids = There are 4 prize levels. Each space in the reading log equals 20 minutes, 50 pages, or 1 book read (24 total spaces). Earn a prize for every 2 hours, 300 pages, or 1 book read.

Can I get the same prize more than once?
Each participant is eligible for one prize at each level. That way, more people
can get prizes.
BOOK REVIEWS:
How do I review books?
You can review books by logging on and clicking Add/View Log and filling in the review information.
You can make your review private or public by clicking on the private or public button inside the reading log.
If you click View All Reviews, you can also comment, create and add to your reading list, and vote on whether or not a review was helpful. Please be constructive in your comments of the reviews of others.
Want to review each book you’ve read this summer? Enter each book separately as 1 space.
You are welcome to review books you’ve read prior to May 26 by entering a 0 as your spaces moved.
I just submitted a review. Why didn’t it show up?
All book reviews are moderated by Library staff before they are made public. After a review has been approved, it will be shared in the list of reviews. Reviews appear in a random order.
How do I review multiple books while logging reading?
If you would like to review multiple books, enter each book separately as 1 space in the Add/View Log.
Can I write reviews for books I’ve already read?
You are welcome to submit as many reviews as you would like. If you are reviewing a book you’ve read prior to May 26, enter you’re Add/View Log space/level as 0.
Can I continue to write reviews after I’ve finished the program?
We encourage you to continue to write reviews after you’ve finished the game until July 26. You can also write reviews for books you’ve already read. If you’ve previously read the book, enter the Add/View Log space/level as 0.
OTHER QUESTIONS:
I registered, but when I login, an error box pops up that says, “You are not registered for this program.” Why is that?
You might be trying to login to the wrong program tab. Look toward the top of the browser to make sure you are in the right tab.
Or, you might not have clicked Save when you registered.
What do I do when I’ve finished?
Please stop by the Library to pick up your prizes. Then keep reading and continue to track your reading online!
What if I’ve made a mistake that I cannot fix?
Drop by your Library’s Summer Reading Desk and let them know you made a mistake, and they will attempt to resolve it.
I forgot my password. What do I do?
If you registered at your Library’s Summer Reading Desk, chances are your password is the last four digits of your phone number. If that password doesn’t work, stop by the Summer Reading Desk at the Library to have your password changed.
What if I don’t want to participate online?
All participants must be registered online either through the Summer Reading Desk at a Library, by yourself, through a parent, or with the assistance of someone else.
Upon registration, babies and kids are welcome to use the printed game board and bring it to the Summer Reading Desk to be logged. Teens can stop by the Summer Reading Desk, too, but will have no printed game board. All reading quantities prizes will be tracked with the computer.
Why are you asking for information like a name and phone number?
Basic information is necessary for each participant to register online. We will use this information to ensure that registration of individuals happens once. We will also use it to track general data such as our prize quantities. Finally, participants that qualify for a drawing prize will be notified by phone or e-mail.
Participating online is fun and easy and allows for new opportunities to be creative and expressive throughout the summer. Just like with your library card information, your information is confidential. Registration information is used for general statistical purposes and is secure. We will not disclose any information to third parties.
If you are participating on a public computer, please make sure you Log Out before leaving.
When I register, why am I asked for parental/guardian consent?
The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act states that parents/guardians grant permission for children under the age of 13 for a site to collect or maintain personal information such as name and phone number. For more information visit: http://www.ftc.gov/.
